I’m glad you’re here.
I started Sunrise Therapy Services with a goal in mind - providing psychotherapy services that are accessible, empowering, and culturally sensitive. I’m passionate about working with my clients in a way that feels authentic and genuine. Part of that is knowing that therapy works differently for everyone, and that you as the client know yourself best. Therapy can help provide tools, build self-knowledge, and help you find compassion for yourself and the world around you. My hope is to empower you to find trust in yourself to cope with whatever comes your way.
I integrate a culturally sensitive and LGBTQIA+ affirming lens to my work. My training includes using expressive arts, parts work/IFS, polyvagal theory, and trauma-informed interventions in addition to traditional person-centered and cognitive behavioral approaches.
Starting therapy can be daunting. It is totally normal to be nervous, and it is exciting that you are taking this step. Over time, we'll get to build trust and comfort to figure out how therapy can best support you.
Hi! I’m Nikita.

I am licensed as an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) in Virginia. I completed my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from George Mason University, and my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Virginia Tech. I have extensive training in working with trauma in both adolescents and adults, utilizing parts work (ego states/Internal Family Systems), polyvagal theory, expressive arts, attachment theory, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
My previous work experiences have included working in a group practice, with a local government agency to provide therapy at no cost for those who have experienced domestic and sexual violence, and with a local government agency providing no-cost infant and early childhood mental health consultation. I also have experience working with local schools to provide mental health and social-emotional consultation, workshops, and group therapy.

Yes. I am currently paneled with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, Carelon, Quest, and Kaiser Permamente of the Mid Atlantic. I am currently in the credentialing process with CareFirst, Sentara Community Plan (Medicaid), Anthem Healthkeepers Medicaid, Optum (Oscar, Oxford, United), and Sentara Commercial Plans. However, it is important that you verify with your insurance provider whether or not I am an in-network provider, since some insurance plan coverage varies.

My self-pay rate is $160 for a psychotherapy session, and $180 for a psychotherapy intake. I do offer a limited number of sliding scale fee spots for clients who do not have access to insurance for their sessions or who are experiencing financial hardship. Please reach out to me directly to discuss whether this would be a good option for you.

I work with clients who are age 12+, but I am especially passionate about working with teens and young adults. My areas of focus are working with those who are wanting to process trauma, anxiety, relationship stressors, and/or life changes. I am also passionate about providing informed care to People of Color and the LGBTQIA+ population.

The best way to determine if your insurance will cover therapy will be to call the member services number on your card and ask them what your behavioral health benefits are. You can also check your Summary of Benefits packet to find an overview. It might be helpful to ask the following questions:
What behavioral health benefits does my plan cover? Is there a limit to the number of sessions?
Do I have a copay amount or coinsurance for therapy sessions? How much is that amount?
Does my deductible apply to my behavioral health benefits? (If your deductible applies to your therapy sessions, you may have to pay a higher amount until you meet your deductible, after which you would typically pay a co-insurance amount).

When I’m not at work, you can often find me curled up with a good book, painting, taking a yoga class, or spending time with my loved ones. I love being out in the sun and finding new places to explore. I have a black cat named Salem whom you might catch a glimpse of during telehealth sessions, if he’s around.
